Every pet owner tries to give their pet the best possible facilities to help them grow. They are always on the lookout for ways to provide nutritious food, veterinary care, and a safe environment for their pet. But since our precious canine friends cannot speak and tell when they are not feeling well or are scared of something; pet owners need to remain aware of their well-being. In case you notice any change in your pet, take quick action to handle the problem. Keeping a check on their behavior and eating habits will ensure that it does not become a serious medical condition.

Excessive Consumption of Water
Pet owners might have seen their furry friend usually drinks water after strenuous playtime or an outdoor trip on a sunny day. It is not normal if your pet drinks water frequently at regular intervals. If your pet shows excessive thirst despite any activity or a cool temperature followed by frequent urination, it can be a sign of kidney or liver disease, diabetes, or an adrenal gland issue.

Loss of Appetite Leading to Weight Loss
Keep a watch on your pet’s eating habits and if you notice any weight loss, you should take your pet to the vet to avoid any risks. Loss of appetite can bring negative impact and result in serious medical conditions especially in dogs that are six months or younger. An unexplained weight gain or loss even though they are given their usual exercise routine and diet can be an indication that your pet has endocrine issues or diabetes.

Behavioral Change
Your pet’s behavioral change may include unprovoked aggression, moodiness, erratic temperament, not playing with toys, anxiety, fearfulness, hyperactivity, submissiveness, sudden onset of seizures, feeling uncomfortable when lying down, not taking foods on time, and more. If your normally friendly pet shows any such signs, this could mean something is wrong. Heart disease, skin allergies, arthritis, thyroid dysfunction, pancreatitis, cancer, and parasites can cause these behavioral changes in pets.

Heavy Panting
Your dog may surely pant after chasing toys, running around the house, or after spending a good playtime outdoors on a hot summer day. Nevertheless, heavy panting is not normal and can last longer than normal panting. A lot of factors like heart stroke, lung tumors, or Cushing’s disease can be an indication due to excessive heavy panting.

Extreme Tiredness And Fatigue
We all know dogs are naturally active and observant. If you find your pet acting lethargic or extremely fatigued for more than a day, it can be your red flag to consult a vet. It is normal for pets to feel tired after long walks and playtime, but do not ignore any signs of prolonged indifference in activities which they used to enjoy.

Eye Discharge
If you notice your pet’s eyes suddenly having a pus-like, milky or colored discharge, they may have some irritant in their eye. Do not ignore this as it could be a sign of infection and can lead to blindness if untreated.

Vocal Changes
We all recognize our beloved pet’s voice, but if that voice changes dramatically in pitch, tone, or pace, that can mean injuries, pain, or other problems. Visit your vet for consultation.
